As much as I love sharing my passion for watercolors through teaching, in the last years I have very much enjoyed the opportunity to keep several exhibitions.
For an artist it is always important to be able to showcase your work because you want to see if your art speaks to other people as well as reaching possibile clients . In some occasions I have been present all the time, it has been more like an 'open door ' event or Artist's Residency where I have been present everyday, painting and demonstrating my work and progress as well as sketchbooks and ongoing projects. And It has been incredibly awarding. For an introvert like me who started exhibiting only a few years ago, the possibility to meet people, talk about my art, get feedback on my work and actually sell my paintings makes me feel incredibly grateful!
Even if painting and making art is a personal need, a necessity, a way of living and making sense of the world - seeing my art art travel to new homes ( and all over the world from Iceland and Europe, to the Americas and Asia...) or just being appreciated is incredibly important. Especially in hard moments - when I'm filled with selfdoubt about what I'm doing - remembering the positive feedback about my art bringing happiness to someone else , gives me yet another reason to keep going!
So thank you to all of you that have share a kind word or bought a painting - keep supporting artists - it always important!
And to return to my initial question, whether to hold courses or do exhibitions - for me it is an incredible enrichment to be able to do both!
